Manufacturers Asked to Forecast in Latest PMI Report
Posted on Oct 28, 2009 by John Zegers, Director COI for Manufacturing |
In their September PMI report, Kennesaw State University’s Econometric Center asked respondent manufacturers about expected production levels in the next 3-6 months. Thirty percent of Georgia respondents said they feel production will increase in the next 3-6 months while 50% expect it to stay the same as current production. In the Southeast as a whole, 42% are forecasting an increase in production and 41% expect production levels to stay the same. Georgia and the SE have experienced a slight slowing of manufacturing activity in August and September while the National picture is moving in the opposite direction. The SE and the National PMI scores typically move in the same direction so it will be interesting to see if Georgia and the SE will see a turn around to get back in step with the rest of the Nation as a whole.
