Joey Watkins has nearly 30 years experience in a wide variety of engineering, education and development vocations. Since 1979, Joey has worked in medium-to-large scale electrical and electronic controls design, installation and support for practically every type of manufacturing and process industry in 36 countries, on land, and aboard oil and gas platforms, in 4 oceans. He has instructed at the collegiate level with 8 years experience at a local Atlanta-metro area university during the 1980’s. He has worked as an automation/electrical engineer and plant engineering manager for a major automotive manufacturer for several years and has most recently been an instructional developer, instructor and coordinator in the Performance Technologies operation of the Georgia Department of Technical And Adult Education Quick Start economic development program. He has been a member of many regional and national self-regulatory and compliance engineering groups such as the I.E.E.E., S.M.E., P.E.M.A., and I.E.E. (Ireland).

Joey has a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical and Computer Science Engineering Technology from what is today known as Southern Polytechnic State University, in Marietta, GA. In addition, Joey has completed work on Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Computer Science and Educational Management.

Joey works in a resource capacity with clients statewide, providing training and consultative services. In this role, Joey provides training in computer integrated manufacturing, maintenance management, advanced automation systems to include virtually any manufacturer’s PLC, DCS or SCADA control system or software. In addition, Joey delivers instruction and consultative services in Total Productive Maintenance and Maintenance Skills Training Needs Assessment programs.

Joey’s specialties include Automation System and Task Analysis, Training Needs Assessment of maintenance personnel, curriculum development and delivery of electrical and mechanical skills and disciplines, and providing a ready resource of precise, custom, and timely technical knowledgeware to statewide clients.

Joey is proudly a first generation United States citizen, of Irish-born, immigrant parents. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia and while traveling the world, many times, he has, and will always call Georgia and metro-Atlanta home.
